Welcome! Hi my Name is Kara, I am the owner of Akora Hair Salon. I would love to share more about myself to give you some insight into my world.

From a very young age I had a natural flair for hair, it was and still is my passion. At the age of 16 I decided to start my hairdressing apprenticeship. After I qualified in my cert 111 in hairdressing, I jet setted off to Canada to experience working in the industry overseas. I definitely caught the travel bug and off I went to experience all the world had to offer. After travelling for 2 years around the world I came back to Melbourne to start my dream of owning my own salon. I really loved doing workshops and hair shows so I threw myself into training and managing the salon I was working at to gain the knowledge I needed to open my dream salon. My dream came true in 2012 and I can proudly say it has been the best journey. I have learnt so much about hair, life and relationships over the last 9 years.

I have just recently decided after owning Akora in Kilsyth and Akora in Richmond, that I would now like to downsize to a little space in Bayswater, to focus on what I enjoy the most. That is helping women and men feel confident in themselves. My passion has always been to care for people and in my craft I get to care, listen, be creative and most importantly be a safe place for you to be yourself. My mission is to help you embrace your special and unique personality through your style.

My priority when you visit Akora is that you feel heard, that you have my undivided attention and that I can help make you feel relaxed in explaining the whole process.

My specialty is to be able to look at your natural colourings and face shape to determine what is going to be the most flattering looks specifically for you.
